'WHO CARES - WITH SIâN REEVES'
YouTube Channel
Siân Reeves is chatting with people who are, or who have been carers to their loved ones. A chance for real people and professionals to offer advice and small wins for this hugely stressful and financially wearing time. Siân did some presenting at BBC Radio wales for 2 years and the lines were jammed when talking about caring! Her own journey with her own parents are highlighting costs, worry, travel, time and essentially CARE.
- 600 people a day are leaving jobs to care full time for their loved ones. Money wise it seems to be an easier way out of a problem to do this. But this then stifles their earnings and potential to continue earning in the future. The reality is then more part time and less well paid jobs are taken as it’s easier to manage but harder to maintain as these positions are very easy to be fired from like cleaning / shop work and less financially rewarding too.
- 1 in 5 people are doing over 50 hours a week of unpaid care equalling £184 Billion pounds which is an entire UNFUNDED NHS A YEAR.
- 2 out of 3 of us by 2050 will be caring for a loved one
- 72% of carers are suffering from anxiety and mental health problems
- THIS IS A CRISIS THAT ISNT GOING AWAY
There is not enough well placed care or funding to catch this ageing population crisis and we are a much different ageing population – most of us can live until we are 100 Now!
I want to talk about this and how we can perhaps change the system for the people already there, our parents and our selves! And in turn our children.
Talking is the beginning of highlighting this problem and also importantly not feeling alone.
WHO CARES? SIÂN DOES!!!
Launching March 2026.
